Rent listed includes the room and monthly cleaning of the common areas of the
apartment. So the room rents for $1150 plus $50 for cleaning contribution totaling $1200.

Available August 1st for later for an 10/11 month lease until end of July 2027 ...
, then lease renewal is 12 month.

The room opening up is a large beautiful second floor room in the front of the house with shared bath/shower. Has gorgeous bay windows that look out on a tall red maple tree (see pics of the house). 12x 13 room with only a shelf closet, so can use dressers or clothes hanging rack. Some storage available outside the room.
Preference is for female roommate, as the other housemates are women.

The whole apartment across three floors is for four people with two bathrooms (one of which is semi private to the resident of the first floor, but also -the third floor housemate travels half the year several months at a time, so it will often just be three people present in the house rather than four. And the shared bath would be with only one person rather than two during those times.
The Apartment has full kitchen, large already furnished living room, laundry in the basement that is free. There is also a bike shed in back that is shared with the house. Communal use of kitchen wares and some household items. Plenty of space for your own things.

Utilities (gas/electric/wifi) are shared and handled by a current tenant. Landlord pays water/sewer.

Excellent location- ten minutes walking to Harvard Square, 15 min walk
to Porter square and Mass Ave restaurants, bus to Fresh Pond shopping area (with Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc), and ten minute walk down hill to the Charles river.
Corner store, Sarah's, is one block away with added cafe, High Rise bakery restaurant on the opposite corner, Armando's pizza on the same block.
Formaggio Kitchen and Huron village restaurants and stores ten minutes away and so forth...

Beautiful neighborhood, intimate house situation. Property is managed by
the owner who does not live on the property but close by and always available for needs. It is well maintained inside. New (last fall installed LG) stove and sink area. Large refrigerator.

Looking for someone similar to current housemates , 30 something with some significant housing experience beyond college. Be reliable, very clean and interested in keeping a home in a responsible shared living situation. No short term or summer subletting possible. No couples or pets.
Current housemates for September 2026 are one Harvard Phd student abd in History of Science. One Phd, astronomer finishing up degree and doing a pre-doc at the Astrophysics lab across the street. One MIT researcher - in food security and development who travels frequently to South Africa. Another academic or researcher or some who works for the University or nearby is highly desirable.

Please respond by email with description of yourself, your situation/ life plan or program,
what you are used to or looking for in a shared housing situation, where you currently live or work.
Strong preference for someone local able to view the house in person. Owner may or may not respond to people who cannot come see the house/apt.. might for the exact right person. thx

House mate References required, first and security deposit for securing the space and move in and last month rent okay to provide within one month or so from move in.
