2 open rooms in a large & bright 4 bed/1 bath near campus, $1140/mo each
I (M28) am a music software engineer entering MIT in September as a master's student in the new Music Technology and Computation program. Two roommates are moving out of the large four bedroom on Beacon street we've been sharing, and I have loved... this apartment, so I am looking to fill their rooms rather than move out. My roommate Bryan (M29) works at a climate control startup, has great taste in wine and has supplied extremely nice vacuum cleaners for the apartment. We're the top two floors of a classic Triple Decker, with a bright and open big living room and kitchen where we regularly host music jams, watch parties, community dinners with friends from the Boston music scene extended universe.
There are three bedrooms on the top floor with quite good noise insulation from the living room, and two bedrooms off of the living room. We use one bedroom as a large storage room which I am working on making into a craft room/study once my roommates move out and we can consolidate our kitchen supplies to the kitchen. I have put a lot of art on the walls, and we have a nice couch. There is a hi-fi audio system I'm working on refurbishing with vintage speakers that need to be re-capped and an old fisher tube amp my grandfather built I'm slowly restoring.
There's coin op laundry in the shared basement. The landlord is careful about how much is stored in the basement since it is shared with the neighbors (who are LOVELY), but I have negotiated to store my bikes and tools there, and it's a great place to work on them, you probably could too. There is also a large unfinished closet on the top floor which has a ton of space that we all share. I keep my music stands and keyboard cases in it for when I'm gigging.
There are great protected bike lanes that go directly to campus right from the front door, and there is a bus connection right at the corner for when the weather is less agreeable. We're about a 17 minute walk from the Harvard Square red line stop. We have a house meeting every month or so to discuss upkeep, plan hangs, and make sure no one is shouldering an undue cleaning burden. We are both men, but this is historically a mixed gender house. I am queer, and this is an LGBTQ+ friendly space. I have a severe nut allergy, so I ask that people treat kitchen cleanliness with importance, and not cook nuts on the stove/oven.
I would love to chat with you if you're interested in the property - I can schedule a virtual tour if you like, or an in-person one if you happen to already be in Massachusetts!
